Privacy and MyFamilyMe

MyFamilyMe is designed to help people preserve family history, manage family trees, work with GEDCOM files and create printable genealogy posters. Family history data can include names, dates, relationships and photos, so privacy matters.

Data you enter

When using MyFamilyMe tools, you may enter information about people, families, dates, places, photos and GEDCOM files. Please use only data that you have the right to process, store or share.

GEDCOM and family data

GEDCOM files can contain a large part of a family history. Before sharing or publishing a GEDCOM file, check whether it includes information about living people and whether you want those details to be available to others.

AI features

AI features are optional. When you explicitly use an AI feature, the text you submit and relevant family-tree data needed for processing may be sent to OpenAI through the MyFamilyMe server in order to generate the response. When you do not use an AI feature, MyFamilyMe does not send your family data to OpenAI.

The free AI trial and automated-abuse protection use anonymous counters. These counters do not store question text, GEDCOM content or email addresses. Network abuse protection uses a pseudonymous identifier derived from the network address; the full IP address is not written to the AI quota/guard files.

Anonymous website analytics

MyFamilyMe records page views, approximate daily visitors, device type and external referral sources. Full IP addresses, names, email addresses and family-tree content are not stored in analytics. Visitors are distinguished using an anonymous identifier that changes every day.
